Anti-Ragging Policy

Women’s Degree College, Kamakhyanagar is committed to nurturing a learning environment where dignity, respect, and safety are non-negotiable values. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, during online interactions, or in any activity associated with the institution. The college follows the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions and treats ragging as a serious violation of human rights and institutional ethics.

Policy Statement

Ragging is a punishable offense and is completely banned within the college premises and beyond. No student, group, or organization is permitted to engage in, support, or tolerate ragging in any form. Any reported incident will be investigated promptly, and strict disciplinary action will be taken.

What Constitutes Ragging

Ragging includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal or physical abuse, teasing, harassment, or intimidation

  • Forcing students to perform humiliating or inappropriate acts

  • Offensive remarks related to identity, background, or appearance

  • Bullying, cyber-bullying, or social exclusion

  • Any act that causes psychological stress, fear, or discomfort

Even acts carried out “in fun” will be treated as ragging if they cause harm, embarrassment, or distress.

Reporting & Support

Students may report ragging incidents through any of the following:

  • Anti-Ragging Committee / Cell

  • College Principal’s Office

  • Online or written complaint submission

Disciplinary Actions

Depending on the severity of the offense, actions may include:

  • Written warning or suspension

  • Expulsion from hostel or college

  • Cancellation of admission or scholarship

  • Filing of FIR or legal proceedings as per law

Ragging is a criminal offense under Indian Penal Code and UGC regulations.

Preventive Measures

  • Orientation and awareness programs for new students

  • Display of anti-ragging guidelines across campus

  • Undertakings from students and parents each academic year

  • Vigilance in hostels, classrooms, and common areas

Responsibilities of Students & Staff

  • Maintain a culture of respect and cooperation

  • Report incidents promptly and responsibly

  • Support peers and uphold the values of the institution
